Application plugins
BackupAgent Client Software makes it very easy to backup Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Favourites and Windows System State, containing e.g. Windows Registry, Active Directory and System and Boot Files.MS Exchange backup

Open file backup
BackupAgent is capable of backing up open files. Leveraging Microsoft's latest Volume Shadow-Copy Service (VSS) framework, you do not have to shut down any applications during the backup process. So e.g. your Word/Excel documents and even your Outlook files are backed up, even when they are in use.‘Seed-load’-technology
BackupAgent supports an easy ‘seed-load’-technology, which allows the initial backup of a large volume of data to a local hard drive, which can be shipped to the Backup Server. This eliminates the first backup over the internet of hours/days/weeks. Of course, subsequent backups will be made incrementally over the internet. This method saves time and bandwidth.Additionally, in case of a disaster, the backup data can also be restored using a local hard drive. This allows you to be back-in-business ultra-fast. This feature allows SLA-based disaster recovery as an additional service to the online backup service.
Of course, all backup data on a local hard drive is fully secured and encrypted.

Multi-tenancy
The architecture of our software enables you to create multiple levels in your backup service. You can create groups, with their own ‘group-login’, who can manage their own users. This is useful for Resellers, who can have their own (white-label) solution on your central backup-platform. Additionally, large companies with multiple users and 1 IT-administrator can have their own group of users.Trial accounts
The BackupAgent solution can automatically generate trial accounts for potential users. The size and duration of these accounts is flexible. Since a lot of users want to ‘taste’ the online backup service before having to pay for it, this is the perfect way to let your customers ‘try-and-buy’.Load balancing
The Backup Server can be hosted in a load balanced (or clustered) environment. You can install the BackupAgent Server Software on two or more servers, which will share the complete infrastructure. With this option, you can assure high availability of the online backup services to your customers and partners. This availability can reach 99.999% due to the fact that you can eliminate all single points of failure.Integration with existing provisioning systems
Many service providers have centralized and automated account management, provisioning and billing processes in IT systems. BackupAgent offers a SOAP/XML and a telnet interface to provision, activate, deactivate and remove subscriber plans for backup services. Through the same interface details reports and summaries can be requested for accounting, billing and monitoring purposes. This allows service providers to onboard online backup services using BackupAgent and bundle with other services or products. Implementing BackupAgent can take place without having to introduce new business processes or monitoring tools for customer care and support staff.Active Directory integration
Connect BackupAgent Server Software to an existing Windows Active Directory and start provisioning backup service plans without having your users sign up for (trial) accounts. Users can download the client software, which will authenticate incoming user logins against the Active Directory. An authenticated user obtains an online backup (trial) account on-the-fly and can immediately start backing up his/her data. Then upgrade your users by assigning them to a ‘BackupAgent’ group in the Active Directory and grant them a storage plan.Additionally, you can match OUs in the AD with ‘groups’ in BackupAgent to allow companies or resellers to manage a subset of users in the BackupAgent platform and rebrand online backup services. With this feature you can earn back your investment in an HMC-platform or other provisioning system by dramatically shortening the time-to-market for your online backup service.
