BackupAgent Replication Software
The BackupAgent Replication Software is an optional server application for replicating backup data from the Backup Server (or Appliance) to a Replication Server. With this feature, advanced 2-tier backup/restore procedures can be created. The Replication Software provides an additional level of protection of the stored data.
This software component is
optional; the
Client Software and
Backup Server can also perform without Replication Software.
Continuous replication of data
The frequency of the data replication can be scheduled, for example once per day or week (weekend). Additionally, the software also provides the possibility to continuously replicate the (new) data from the Backup Server to the Replication Server. This creates an ultimate 2-tier protection of valuable business data.
Supported platforms
The BackupAgent Replication Software is based on Web Services and the .Net Framework. It runs on a Windows Server 2003 installation and uses an integrated SQL database to store user information. The storage of the backup data can be within the hardware or on an external storage device (SAN, NAS) connected with iSCSI, CIFS or NFS.
Requirements
The BackupAgent Replication Software itself consist of 2 components; the first is installed on the Backup Server (or Appliance)(primary server), the second is installed on the Replication Server (secondary server). The system requirements for the (primary) Backup Server remain the same, meaning that the Replication Software can be installed on an existing Backup Server (or Appliance) without the need of changing the configuration. The secondary server (Replication Server) runs on Windows 2003
and must be a 32-bit server.
